We changed a beer brewery from the year 1570 and half a castle into a modern training and conference centre - The YMCA Europe Training Centre in Litomysl. It started back in the mid 1990s when Y'sMen in Denmark under leadership of Poul Thomsen gave 70 000 Euros for a training centre in the Czech Republic.
The transformation cost more than 2 million Euros and we fundraised with the Czech Government, the City Council of Litomysl and the European Union. 10% of this is YMCA money, and we sold chairs and beds and rooms to you - generous donors and supporters of the YMCA Europe Training Centre. In this way you made it possible for YMCA Europe to fulfill its obligations.
The YMCA Europe Training Centre has now operated with a surplus the last to years!
Thank you for all your enthusiasm and generosity! We welcome you to visit Litomysl to sit in your chair, sleep in your bed, or just to celebrate our joint success in your own room! Remember that the General Assembly for YMCA Europe will be in Litomysl in May 2010 - welcome back!
Your names and the names of your YMCAs are now engraved on the doors and on a big plaque on the wall of the TC.
