The period 2012-2014 is the next important stage of it. The countries where the YMCA exists are: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Greece, Montenegro, Republic of Macedonia, Kosovo, Romania and Serbia. All of them create one focus area. The project in its main part is funded by the Swiss HorYzon - a structural part of the Swiss YMCA. Since 2012 remarkable support comes from Y's Men Denmark.
The main focus has been the same from the beginning of the project: the continuous support and facilitation of the development of national and local YMCAs in the Balkan Peninsula. However, the democratic base of governing that was achieved in the previous periods and the engagement of foreign partners allow to pay much more attention to the fluent progress in the programme work and cooperation with the YMCAs of other European areas.
In 2012 the Balkan Project has become an integral part of the Implementation Plan of YMCA Europe Programme Department. For this reason the development of Balkan YMCAs is influenced by pan-European priorities: Inclusive Christianity, Peace and Reconciliation and Healthy Life. The external evaluation ordered by the HorYzon helped to introduce some important elements to the Project policy 2012-14.
