LOCATION: Various locations in Spain
DURATION: From 29 June to 27 of July 2020
Camp staff members will plan and implement a quality program that promotes YMCA values and builds life skills of children and teens. In addition to teaching conversational English to campers, they will lead camp activities alongside Spanish staff members.
Camp counselors/English instructors will participate in staff orientation and then lead English activities and camp activities with school groups before the camps start.
The ¨official¨ language at camp is English and the intention is for the Spanish children to participate in an English immersion experience. Staff members should not expect to advance their Spanish speaking skills during their time at camp as they will use English in all activity areas at all times.
YMCA Spain will provide room and board, transportation to/from Campsites, and pocket money (paid once, at the end of the camp program, up to €1,000 based on experience and complete sessions worked (250€ per session).
Staff members are responsible for international travel to/from Spain, as well as any other expenses before the program start and after program conclusion, including hostel/hotel stays. Selected camp counselors/English instructors must secure all travel documentation (Passport), obtain comprehensive travel medical insurance before traveling to Spain and background check. A work visa is not necessary for the position, staff can participate with the 90 day tourist visa upon entry to Spain.
Eligibility Requirements
- Minimum age: 20 years old
- Strong leadership skills
- Demonstrated experience in summer camp (YMCA preferred) as a camp counselor or camp staff
- Ability to adapt to multicultural environments
- Ability to work long hours daily for one month uninterrupted with a positive attitude
- Experience teaching English as a Second Language preferred
- Spanish skills preferred
MAIN ROLE AND FUNCTIONS
- To design and implement the activities adapted to group of participants.
- To prepare, development and evaluation each activities during the day.
- To determine basic norms of the camp and conflicts resolution.
