The project is co-funded by the European Youth Foundation and aims at promoting inclusiveness, peace, justice and diversity in local communities through enhancing the impact of refugee services and more representational governance processes in youth CSOs.
Objectives:
- Strengthen the capacity of 30 young leaders of civil society organisations (CSOs) on the concepts of impact, intersectionality, vulnerability, work with refugees and intercultural dialogue;
- Amplify the impact of the social services in approximately 15 youth CSOs targeting near 500 refugees and other youth from vulnerable groups;
- Promote inclusive representational democratic governance in approximately 15 youth CSOs.
The project will embrace 3 key stages:
- International Activity I – 17 – 22 April, Setubal, Portugal (17 – arrival day, 22 – departure day);
- Local Activities – May – November 2023
- International Activity II – 31 October 2023 – 05 November 2023, Tbilisi, Georgia
The first online meeting will take place 15th of March 2023, 17.00 – 18.30 CET
The schedule of other short online meetings will be fixed later.
Key topics:
- Intersectionality, vulnerability, inclusion, work with refugees, intercultural dialogue;
- Needs assessment, role of CSOs, impact, project design algorithm;
- Compass manual as a tool of human rights education.
- Understanding what kind of services the refugees need;
The participants will have the opportunity to apply the gained knowledge in practice and implement mini-projects in their communities.
Local Activities should be aimed at enhancing peace, justice, equality and intercultural dialogue in local communities through mini-projects aimed at inclusion of the refugees and other vulnerable groups.
The participants will get the following knowledge and skills:
- project design algorithm,
- project cycle,
- application structure,
- how to formulate the goal and objectives,
- how to plan activities,
- how to make the budget;
- tools for monitoring and evaluation.
Key topics:
- Impact measurement and enhancement;
- Sustainability and means how to reach it;
- Partnership and fundraising in CSOs;
- Leadership in CSOs;
- Democratic governance as one of means of sustainability; with the focus on representation and diversity;
- Internal policies in inclusion and anti-discrimination and how to elaborate them;
- Drafting an internal Inclusion policy.
Methodology
- Non-formal education face-to face (60%): we will use methods and principles of non-formal education during 2 face-to-face meetings (4 full days each).
- Online study (10%): between face-to-face meetings we will suggest studying some theoretical material at the interactive online course.
- Learning by doing (30%): practical design and implementation of social mini-projects with some support by online sessions by request.
Application Process
Please, submit the application form by 22 January 2023.
Criteria:
- Being an activist in local community and civil society organisation;
- 18-29 years old;
- Good command of English;
- Ability and motivation to be present at all meetings and fulfil suggested practical taks;
- Motivation to work with vulnerable groups in the community (including refugees and IDPs).
The responsibility of National movements:
- To provide mentoring at all levels, especially at the stage of mini-projects’ implementation and organising seminars on governance;
- To provide further involvement of the participants in YMCA activities at local and national levels.
Participation Fee:
500 euro
We highly recommend sharing the cost between individuals and organisations. The subsidies are possible by request.
Participation fee includes:
- accommodation;
- meals;
- programme delivery;
- reimbursement of agreed travel and visa costs.
