European Tensing Group

Ten Sing is a youth arts program developed by the YMCA in Norway in the 1960s. The program aims to provide young people with a creative outlet for self-expression, while also promoting personal growth, social inclusion, and community engagement. Ten Sing is now a global movement, with programs in over 20 countries around the world.

Ten Sing programs typically involve music, dance, drama, and other forms of artistic expression. Young people are encouraged to participate in all aspects of the program, from writing and performing music to designing and producing costumes and sets. The program provides a platform for young people to showcase their talents and creativity, while also learning important life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and communication.

Through its activities, Ten Sing aims to promote personal development and social inclusion among young people. The program provides a safe and supportive environment where young people can learn, grow, and develop their skills and talents. Ten Sing also encourages young people to use their artistic talents for the benefit of their communities, promoting social engagement and civic responsibility.

Each ETS member country sends delegates to our annual ETS conference where we connect, discuss ideas and plan partnerships. We also have ETS Festivals where 1500-3000 TEN SINGers from all the different countries can meet in person and get to know new friends, languages, cultures and join fun activities.

Since the first festival in 1993 in Germany, 10 ETS festivals took place in different countries in Europe. At the last one in 2018 in Norway, we celebrated 50 years of TEN SING.

TEN SING Europe is a welcoming, open and diverse platform. So if you have or want to have TEN SING in your country and join ETS, contact us!

European TenSing Database

We are collecting information regarding all the Ten Sing groups in our European movement. Creating a database would increase the visibility and reach of the local, national and international groups of talented young people. So if you are running Ten Sing groups and projects, we would like to hear more of your work by completing this 2 min form
