The visit to Moldova has proved to be a great opportunity to witness first-hand the impact that YMCA plays in bridging the gap between the country’s communities and digital opportunities.
Through their extensive network of partner educational institutions, volunteers and organizations, YMCA Moldova is able to proudly present itself as the country’s lead actor in the field of Digital Equity, distributing more than 5.300 laptops and thousands of peripheral devices, engaging in extensive educational and skilling programmes with more than 200,000 yearly beneficiaries.
During the visit, Marius Pop, Executive Secretary for Communications & Partnerships, and Dragoș Tarța, Advocacy Officer, took part in a series of school visits where they met with students to discuss career opportunities and the growing relevance of digital skills in the modern workplace.
They also held strategic meetings with YMCA Moldova’s leadership and program staff, exploring avenues for deeper cooperation within YMCA Europe’s Digital Ecosystem.
In addition, they engaged with dedicated young volunteers whose work continues to strengthen the organization’s community impact through peer mentoring, digital literacy workshops, and local outreach initiatives.
The highlight of this dynamic week was the National Workshop „Exploring AI and Digital Inclusion in Education – A National Youth Dialogue for Future-Ready Learning in Moldova”, organized by YMCA Moldova in Chișinău.
The event united educators, youth, digital experts, and public institutions to explore Moldova’s digital education transformation, fostering critical thinking, inclusive dialogue, and reflection on how technology and AI are reshaping learning with the active involvement of teachers and young people.
This workshop also represents a brave new step in YMCA Moldova’s evolution, marking the launch of the National Dialogue for the Future of Moldova, a future-oriented process of community development.
Through structured youth dialogues, digital skilling for educational staff and policy engagement, YMCA Moldova takes the lead in directly shaping digital policies through youth and educator input, a pioneering initiative in the region.
The workshop was part of the broader initiative „Centre Digitale Educaționale în Republica Moldova”, implemented by YMCA Moldova with support from HP Inc., and aimed at strengthening the digital competences of youth, teachers, and educational centers across the country.
Through this initiative, YMCA Moldova continues to reaffirm its commitment to digital inclusion, educational innovation, and the preparation of Moldova’s young generation for a future-ready learning environment.
The visit to Moldova reaffirmed YMCA Europe’s commitment to digital equity, youth empowerment, and educational innovation. YMCA Moldova exemplifies how local leadership and international cooperation can bridge digital divides and promote inclusive, future-ready learning for all young people.
