This past week has brought a momentous fresh start within the Ukrainian YMCA movement.
An important milestone was reached this week in the history of YMCA Ukraine as the National Conference officially confirmed Victoria Trofimova as the new National General Secretary. The Conference also elected a new National Board, led by Cheverdakova Hanna as President, marking the beginning of a new chapter of growth and renewal for the organisation.
Warm appreciation goes to Victor Serbulov, retiring after three decades of dedicated service, and to Oksana Yaremenko, who has led the organisation with commitment and care as President in recent years. Their leadership has shaped the movement and strengthened its role within Ukrainian society.
In a symbolic and inspiring transition, leadership now passes from Victor to Victoria — representing both continuity and a renewed vision for the future. YMCA Europe remains a committed partner in supporting the continued development of YMCA Ukraine and its vital mission.
The National Conference was honoured by the presence of Juan Simões Iglesias, Secretary General of YMCA Europe, alongside international guests from Sweden, Finland, Japan, Germany, and Denmark, whose participation reflected the enduring solidarity and friendship within the global YMCA movement. Partners from World YMCA, USA, Canada and Europe shared encouraging messages of recognition with the best wishes for the future of YMCA Ukraine.
