A new space dedicated to digital learning and innovation has been launched in Baia Mare, Romania, as YMCA Baia Mare officially joins the international YMCA – HP Digital Hubs network.
Access to technology and digital skills is more important than ever for education, employability, and social inclusion. To respond to this need, a new space dedicated to digital learning and innovation has been launched in Baia Mare, as YMCA Baia Mare officially joins the international YMCA – HP Digital Hubs network.
This initiative aims to bring technology closer to young people and provide opportunities to develop essential skills for an ever-changing digital-first future.
As part of the global Accelerating Digital Equity program, supported by HP and YMCA Europe, the Baia Mare hub has been equipped with laptops and digital resources designed to support education, creativity, and collaboration in a safe and inclusive environment.
The new Digital Hub will serve as a platform where young people can:
- Gain practical knowledge,
- Explore technology, and
- Connect with others in meaningful ways.
More than just a technological resource, the hub aspires to become a community space where ideas can grow and young people can prepare for future challenges.
YMCA Baia Mare emphasizes the importance of ensuring access to digital opportunities for all, regardless of social or economic background. The hub is designed to help young people develop both technical and soft skills that are increasingly valuable in education and the labor market.
Activities planned within the Digital Hub include:
- Digital development sessions,
- Interactive workshops on diverse topics,
- Access to the HP LIFE platform with its wide range of free online courses,
- Opportunities for collaboration and teamwork,
- Special events with mentors and community stakeholders.
With the Generous support of HP HOPE and HP LIFE, currently offering over 30 free online courses in entrepreneurship, IT, communication, and professional skills, the hub is becoming a thriving learning centre for all. Through the YMCA Digital Hub in Baia Mare, young people now have facilitated access to these resources directly within their community. Shaping the direction of our joint initiative with HP and the great partnership built with the national YMCA movement in Romania.
