Find out how the YMCA Switzerland Scout event in August 2025 fosters leadership through diverse workshops and collaboration.
The European YMCA Scouting and Jungschar Group (ESG) organized its annual Leadership Training and Seminar (LTS) from 20–24 August 2025 in Oberentfelden, Switzerland. The event brought together 64 participants and 8 leaders from 9 different countries across Europe.
As the name suggests, ESG-LTS combines leadership training with a seminar. “Learning by doing” was one of the main approaches of the camp. During the five days, participants engaged in a variety of workshops, including pioneering skills, baking over an open fire, and an exchange with the World YWCA.
ESG also collaborated with both regional and local groups of Cevi (YMCA) Switzerland, creating value for local and international participants alike and with https://learningbygoing.ch/ – who helped a lot with sponsorship and fundrising.
On Friday 22 August, participants set out on hikes in smaller groups, where they were able to network, exchange ideas on how to improve ESG, and enjoy Switzerland’s stunning surroundings. Each group also had the chance to challenge themselves by visiting a nearby cave.
A highlight of the camp was the International Evening, when participants shared food, games, and dances from their own cultures.
The ESG Annual Meeting took place on Saturday morning. During the official session, a new Executive Committee was elected, and plans for future events were discussed. The location of ESG-LTS 2026 will be announced later in the autumn, while ESG-Day 2025 will be organized by Finland.
The newly elected Executive Committee consists of seven members from Belarus, the Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, and Switzerland.
