YMCA Setúbal is inviting young people from around the world to join its International Summer Camp Counsellor Programme in 2026, taking place at YMCA Camp Alambre, located in the heart of Portugal’s stunning Arrábida Natural Park.
This programme offers a unique opportunity to work with children and young people while living in nature, developing leadership skills, improving English communication, and experiencing intercultural exchange within the global YMCA movement.
About the Programme
The YMCA Summer Camp combines non-formal education, outdoor adventure, environmental awareness, and community life. Activities include climbing, kayaking, beach sports, environmental education projects, camping games, cultural visits, and themed night activities. English is used daily, creating an international and enriching environment for both campers and counsellors.
Counsellors play an active role in creating a safe, inclusive, and child-centred experience, acting as positive role models and supporting the personal development of participants.
Who Can Apply
YMCA Setúbal is looking for 6 International Camp Counsellors aged 18 to 29, with a good level of English and preferably previous experience in youth work or summer camps. Applicants should be motivated, responsible, and aligned with YMCA values: Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Solidarity, and Optimism.
Conditions & Support
Counsellors will receive:
- Accommodation at YMCA Camp Alambre
- All meals during the programme
- Personal accident insurance
- €300 per week salary
Working periods run between 21 June and 5 September 2026.
