Last week, YMCA Europe had the opportunity to participate in the European Youth Forum’s General Assembly, held on the 7th and 8th of November at the Kandersteg International Scout Center in Switzerland.
Represented by our colleagues Dragos Tarta (YMCA Europe) and Mark Healy (YMCA Ireland), our presence at the General Assembly reaffirms our firm commitment to youth rights and advancing the well-being of young people across Europe.
As cosigners and contributors to two significant motions adopted unanimously by the European Youth Forum, we helped shape key policy priorities for the youth sector, focusing on young people’s relationship with social media and the fight against menstrual poverty continent-wide. These motions reflect YMCA Europe’s comprehensive efforts across multiple policy areas that converge on creating equitable communities where young people can thrive, grow, and feel safe.

Furthermore, we are proud to highlight Dragos Tarta’s election as coordinator of the Value Based Cooperation coalition during the Assembly, a role that will enable us to drive collaborative and values-driven work across youth organizations.
We also supported and advocated for critical motions concerning the preservation of freedom of movement, freedom of expression, and youth participation in peacebuilding efforts. These actions underscore our dedication to ensuring democratic participation and fundamental rights for young people.
Beyond policy work, the General Assembly provided vital opportunities for networking and collaboration with other youth organizations, strengthening partnerships to amplify collective impact on the European youth agenda.
Our participation at the European Youth Forum’s General Assembly is a continuation of YMCA Europe’s commitment to amplifying youth voices and empowering young people to actively shape policies that affect their lives and communities. We return from this inspiring event energized and motivated to continue this important work.
