- Place :

the experiences of Göran Schmidt in Baden, Johannes Seidel in the YMCA District Association Lüdenscheid, Wouter Ram and Peter Schoe at YMCA Netherlands and the Institute for Experiential and Outdoor Education at the International YMCA University of Applied Sciences in Kassel all bear witness to the great possibilities of encounter by living and learning together in nature- and action-oriented environments.
Together with the Christian culture of appreciating each individual, an understanding of Christian communities of meeting and learning from each other outdoor projects like those mentioned above offer various levels of experience and personal development to young people – thereby empowering young people to reach their full potentials.
This is why we are pleased to announce a new common Treehouse Project of YMCAs in Europe for 2015/2016, which aims to qualify youth workers for leadership for treehouse projects, connect the existing projects and develop the concept further. In this context we are planning (1) a European Treehouse Leaders Trainee Camp for around 30 future outdoor leaders in July 2015, and (2) the 4th European Youth Workers Camp in July 2016, including a treehouse & outdoor training for about 80 volunteer youth workers.
Both Camps will be hosted by YMCA Germany in collaboration with CVJM-Westbund in Camp Michelstadt, Germany.
Participant fees for each camp will be 150 EUR per person + travel allowances (depending on EU grants). We hereby invite you to take part in the European Treehaus Leaders Trainee Camp to be held in Michelstadt, Germany, on 11-18 July 2015.
We expect around 30 participants (2-5 people per country), including staff, youth workers and professionals involved in education and training for experiential pedagogy, outdoor activities, treehouse camps etc. Kindly note that there is no age limit! The program will include Training- & Safety Concept Tree House Camps, Building places of living and learning; Educational and theological concepts and a joint program with another YMCA Camp taking place in Michelstadt at the same time (meals, devotion, social).
