Powered by HP, YMCA Romania is advancing digital equity across the country by developing innovative hubs that provide young people and communities with access to technology, skills, and opportunities to thrive in the digital era.
Powered by HP, YMCAs and organisations across Romania are on a swift process of accelerating Digital Equity in the country with a strong focus of educational initiatives and services designed to level up digital competencies, from the more developed metropolitan cities to the most underprivileged communities.
The partnership between YMCA and HP has been instrumental in Romania in tackling digital inequity and expanding opportunity nationwide:
- Over 900 devices (headsets) were distributed in 2023–2024, supporting access to essential technology across communities.
- 100 laptops were distributed across the country through the HP HOPE initiative, with an additional 175 laptops to be delivered through a new national partnership with the National Youth Foundation.
- Schools in rural and underserved areas gained access to online learning platforms and digital tools, transforming how students and teachers engage with education.
- 100+ youth leaders and educators received targeted training in digital skills, enhancing the programme’s reach and long-term impact.
This collaboration continues to drive inclusion, empower young people, and build future-ready communities. Across Romania, local YMCA Digital Hubs are bringing this mission to life — each with its own story, focus, and community impact.
Cluj-Napoca – Innovation in a Collaborative Space
At our HP-YMCA Digital Hub in Cluj-Napoca, young people have access to a safe and collaborative environment where they can learn new skills, connect with peers, and explore entrepreneurial and IT education.

Participants are consistently inspired by the quality resources and support provided by the IKE Transylvania team, making the hub a vibrant space for growth and discovery.
Baia Mare – Local and National Digital Skilling for Volunteers
In Baia Mare, the focus of the two hubs is on digital skilling for volunteers, equipping local community members with the knowledge and resources to contribute meaningfully to digital projects and initiatives, enabling them to focus on future academic and career development, especially through HP LIFE Program.

The local and national movement continues developing sessions from soft-skills development, to technical skilling, 3D design as well as professional development through the varied plethora of program sessions at the YMCA Romania Hub and YMCA Baia Mare centre.
