The YSPACE Forum for Journalism and Youth Activity in Gabrovo, Bulgaria, brought together nearly 100 young participants eager to explore how journalism can become a powerful tool for civic engagement and social change.
The day began with a warm welcome from Antoaneta Yankabakova, Executive Director of YMCA Gabrovo, who set the tone for a day of learning, dialogue, and inspiration.
Joining her were distinguished partners, mentors, and Mr. Georgi Marinov, Head of RUO-Gabrovo, all united in their commitment to empowering the next generation of storytellers and changemakers.
Participants were divided into three interactive halls, where they attended a series of training lectures focused on active citizenship, online media, and youth participation. Among the highlights were sessions by Mariana Mandicheva, who discussed how journalism can drive civic action.
Ralica Manolova, who offered insights into online reporting at school and university; and Antoaneta Yankabakova, who spoke passionately about volunteering and community engagement.
A key part of the day was the mandatory PulseZ training module — “Introduction to PulseZ and Editorial Strategy Platform.” This session introduced participants to the PulseZ ecosystem, preparing them to contribute meaningful stories and develop their own journalistic voice within Europe’s digital democracy landscape.
In the afternoon, the energy rose as attendees met Georgi Nenov, creator of one of Bulgaria’s most popular podcasts — The Superhuman with Georgi Nenov. His lecture, “Youth Podcast: An Opportunity to Express a Position and Inspire Action,” provided practical advice on creating authentic audio content, building an audience, and using digital platforms for social impact.
“It’s inspiring to see nearly a hundred young people from Gabrovo and the region being active for the benefit of society,” shared the organizing team. “Their passion shows that the future of media and civic participation is in capable hands.”
The PulseZ local event concluded with smiles, gratitude, and a renewed sense of purpose — a clear sign that when youth are given a platform to learn, share, and create, they truly shape the narratives of tomorrow.
We are delighted by the great outcomes and products created by the young participants, and here is a glimpse of their creativity in action:
PulseZ offers more than a space for expression; it`s a hub for skill development in digital journalism, helping young creators refine their craft.
