YMCA AI Sprint 2.0: Over 550 Youth Workers Across Europe Complete AI Training in One Day
On 23 April, YMCA Europe ran the second edition of its AI Sprint – a coordinated, one-day learning event in which 22 YMCA organisations across Europe came together to complete an introductory AI course. In total, more than 550 youth workers, volunteers and young leaders participated. Learn more about first AI Sprint.

How it worked
The format was intentionally simple: a focused two-hour sprint in which local teams completed the “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” course together, on the Founderz platform, as part of the YMCA–Microsoft partnership. Sessions took place in local offices, community hubs and shared spaces, with teams exploring AI basics, responsible use and practical applications relevant to youth work, communication and project management.
Several organisations went further, organising hands-on sessions where participants used AI tools to draft content, design activities and translate materials for their communities.

Infrastructure through HP–YMCA Digital Hubs
The event was supported by the HP–YMCA Digital Hubs programme. Through HP HOPE, these hubs provide the devices and connectivity needed for YMCA teams to participate in digital learning – ensuring access is not a barrier.
Prizes
To mark participation, YMCA Europe awarded prizes totaling 2,400 euros. Xbox prizes went to YMCA Romania, YMCA Baia Mare (Romania), YMCA Gabrovo (Bulgaria) and YMCA Setúbal (Portugal). 3 Vouchers of 333 euros each were awarded to YMCA Moldova, YMCA Volyn and YMCA Kyiv (both in Ukraine).

What’s next
The “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” course remains free and accessible to all YMCA organisations. It can be used independently for staff trainings, digital learning days or youth-facing activities. AI Sprint 2.0 is the second step in YMCA Europe’s ongoing effort to build AI literacy across its network – practically, not theoretically.
