YMCA Europe takes the floor in Hearing on the Strategy on Intergenerational Fairness organised by the European Economic and Social Committee.
On the 18th of May 2026, Dragoș Tarța – Advocacy Lead represented YMCA Europe in the public hearing on the Strategy on Intergenerational Fairness organised by the European Economic and Social Committee, adding the perspective of a European youth organisation with a long-standing commitment to community development, social cohesion, and active citizenship.
This engagement built on YMCA Europe’s earlier involvement in the policy process as part of the Intergenerational Fairness Coalition. From the strategy’s initial stages, YMCA Europe has contributed to collective efforts aimed at shaping a policy framework that can respond to the structural challenges affecting different generations in a more coherent and forward-looking manner.
At the hearing, Dragoș Tarța presented YMCA Europe’s intervention and underlined several priorities that are particularly relevant to young people across Europe, including access to housing, fair and stable employment, and digital equity. The intervention also highlighted the importance of community spaces and intergenerational dialogue as essential conditions for trust, mutual understanding, and social inclusion.

YMCA Europe welcomes the Strategy on Intergenerational Fairness as an important milestone in the European Union’s policy response to demographic, social, and technological change.
The hearing confirmed the need for continued cooperation between institutions, civil society, and communities in order to ensure that intergenerational fairness is translated into concrete action that strengthens dignity, participation, and solidarity across all age groups.
