Who?
If you are an active youth worker, active volunteer working with youth or other professional interested in youth development aged 18+, and you are from United Kingdom, Romania, Finland, Poland, Czech Republic, Malta, Germany or Slovakia, this is a great opportunity to get involved in international forum of youth workers regarding effective communication through new media. It’s a way to understand the influence of media used and created by youth in different countries in Europe.
Why?
It’s an opportunity to share ideas and experience of media influence > By taking part in this project find some common needs for young people in Europe > Learn together how to see below the surface to be able to deconstruct the messages created by and for youth > It’s a possibility to be more active in the way that we will propose better practices to empower young people and give them a voice through media > gain practical skills in creating high quality video by learning by doing

Where?
The training will take place in Banska Bystrica, central Slovakia.
Address: YMCA na Slovensku, Lazovna 17, 974 01 Banska Bystrica
Accommodation: Hostel YMCA Banska Bystrica (www.hostel.ymca.sk), set in the historical town centre, with garden and conference facilities, boarding in nearby restaurant.
Main themes YOUTH (Identifying needs of young people: working on samples from different countries, discussion…)
MEDIA (theory on media communication, targeting an audience, media ethics…)
IMAGE (theory of vision, pre-production, production theory…)
STORY (practicing filming and basic editing, post-production, publishing media…)
PRACTICAL WORK (team project: reflection, filming, editing, finalizing, exporting and viewing)
Participation fee is 20 Euro, travel costs covered up to 70%, all other costs covered by Youth in Action grant.
