In 2014 YMCA Europe focuses on ‘Inclusive Christianity’ and the CtV seminar is our ‘highlight-event’ – hosted by YMCA Belarus and local YMCA in Voloshin.
Under the title ‘Cultural Roots of Peaceful Co-existence’ you can expect:
- university level inputs on personal development and on Christian-Jewish-Muslim symbolism and traditions in historical and contemporary contexts by invited experts;
- Orthodox icon writing and understanding;
- mini-choir and its performance at Orthodox Church;
- Uzbekistan cuisine dinner and its Muslim roots;
- art-photography workshop and coins exhibition;
- visits to Orthodox and Catholic churches, mosque and old Jewish cemeteries;
- input on YMCA in Palestine;
- time for self-reflection as well leisure activities;
- Belorussian culture evening;
We can promise an unforgettable experience! Belarus is perhaps the most unknown country in Europe and not so many people know that there are unique examples of peaceful living together of Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant Christians together with Muslims and Jews. One of such places is Voloshin and its surroundings – small, grey post-Soviet town, but also fascinating multicultural, multi-ethnical and multi-religious micro-cosmos! So, come and enjoy CtV seminar!
Instead of a participation fee, all participants are expected to cover the costs of own travel to Minsk-Belarus, as well as visa and mandatory insurance costs (invitation letter for visa will be provided by local YMCA in Belarus). All costs in Belarus (hotel, food, seminar facilities, local transportation, programme, incl. excursions, etc.) will be covered by organizers.
With the deadline of September 5th, please send e-mail to michal@ymcaeurope.com with the following information: your name, age, education/profession, your YMCA involvement and experiences, and – most important – explanation why you’re interested in taking part at the seminar. Shortly after the deadline you will be informed if your application has been considered and practical further information will be sent to you.
