From the 2nd to the 6th of June, our representatives had the pleasure to be hosted by YMCA Slovakia for the National Assembly of the movement, joined by representatives of the YMCA of the Czech Republic.
The visit had its main purpose of strengthening the collaboration within our movements, discussing the next steps towards the development of the YMCA in Slovakia, continuation of the ongoing programs, and developing the external partnership projects – more specifically the further development of the eDU Hubs and programs supported by Accenture Foundation in Slovakia.
During the General Assembly in the mountainous region of Banska Bystrica, our team was focused on understanding the local realities and strategic planning, with a highlight on the activities dedicated towards the skilling and support programs for the Ukrainian communities, establishing sustainable organizations, and understanding the impact the cross-collaboration makes with Y’s Men International Club and celebration of 100 years of the YMCA Building in Bratislava – a true piece of heritage within the movement.
During the second evening of the assembly, local leaders, representatives and volunteers, all came together in prayers attending the memorial of Dalibor, the late Secretary General of YMCA Slovakia, a true leader, a friend, and an inspiration for the movement.
After connecting and concluding the successful General Assembly, our team headed north to visit the eDU hub and offices of YMCA Liptovský Mikuláš hearing more updates from the local team regarding the development of the Ukrainian skilling and support programs, also getting familiar with the venues and implementation capacity at the grassroots level.
The final leg of our journey got us back to the capital city of Bratislava, where we experienced the marvel and beauty of the YMCA Building, a heritage that turns 100 years of activity and a promising establishment for the further growth of the movement.
With this in mind, our journey concluded with a successful meeting – facilitated by representatives of Accenture Slovakia. A fruitful dialogue creating a framework for the continuation of the Refugee Skilling and Support program – enabling Ukrainian refugees to access upskilling opportunities, career growth and legal support towards a smooth integration into the community.
A successful meeting aligning our strategy with the national movement and the objectives of Accenture Foundation, to consolidate strong networking with Civic Society organisations in Slovakia, within the context of career growth, digitalisation and refugee integration support.
Once more we set the base for a fruitful collaboration and development of our current initiatives.
