“Inclusive and Relevant”, was the title of our 2011 General Assembly (June 1st to 5th 2011) held at Ernst Sillem Hoeve, the Netherlands.
About 130 delegates representing 29 National Movements plus several special guests, joined the Assembly and enjoyed the warm hospitality of the Dutch YMCA.
The new 2011-2016 Strategy of YMCA Europe was presented by our President Peter Posner who also reminded the wide participative process that led to the final document. The 2010 Annual Report was presented and the new Strategy was approved, setting the bases and concrete goals for the next years.
Specific workshops about the implementation of the new Strategy took place after inspiring messages from keynote speakers Herman Kaiser, Patrick Schroeder and Ian Green. They focused on the three main priorities of the Strategy : Mission Awareness, Relevant Programmes and Institutional Development-Resource Mobilization.
Our new Secretary General Juan Simoes shared his vision under the title “Open Road” and provided his feedback after 100 days in his new position. Two very relevant events took place also at Ernst Sillem Hoeve during our annual meeting.
The YES Seminar – involving more than 30 young participants representing different European realities – provided a new approach to the participation of young people within YMCA Europe.
The next YMCA Europe Festival was launched and a number of National Movements already committed a wide presence in Prague in August 2013. Prior to the Assembly, the National General Secretaries met expressing their expectations about the implementation of the Strategy and their future work in the frame of YMCA Europe. The Executive Committee and the YMCA Europe staff also held meetings at Ernst Sillem Hoeve.
Thank you for your participation!
