At this courtesy visit Ed was accompanied by Tom Cusens (National President YMCA Malta); Board- and Staff members of YMCA Malta and two EVS-volunteers from YMCA Belarus who work for YMCA Valletta.
During this 45 minutes meeting Ed explained about the work of YMCA’s in Europe and of YMCA Europe as umbrella organization. Special emphasis was laid on the excellent work of YMCA Malta and the developments of the Homeless Shelter in Valletta. Also issues like youth empowerment; youth unemployment and the recent tragedy with the boat refugees near the island of Lampedusa and its effects on Malta were discussed.
The President was well aware of the work of YMCA Malta and thanked all present for their important work in Europe and locally. He highlighted the importance of young people widening their horizons by cross-border experiences, suggesting that such opportunities even enhance their employability prospects.
