Last weekend we were visiting YMCA Montenegro. YMCA Montenegro is the youngest national movement in our European YMCA family. Even if they are only volunteers, operating without office and almost without money, in Podgorica, capital city of Montenegro we saw fascinating YMCA event – St. Nicolaus Day for children from multi-ethnical and multi-religious families. Beautiful Christmas atmosphere, wonderful gifts for children, 3-4 years old children performing on the stage with enthusiasm and charm. The hosts of the event were Michal Spevak, President of YMCA Montenegro as St. Nicolaus and Consul of Slovak Republic in Montenegro.
YMCA Montenegro is running excellent social inclusion programme for Roma and by Roma (!) and they are looking for partners who are providing similar activities. On the photo below – Biljana and Andrija, leaders of the programme.
And you should know that Montenegro is a wonderful country – mountains and Adriatic sea, great history and incredible nature. In small town Herzeg Novi you can walk on the paths of Ivo Andric, Nobel Prize winner in literature and Emir Kusturica, one of the most creative movie directors in the world. And Sveti Stefan (photo below) is a real pearl!
So, feel invited to co-operate with YMCA Montenegro and to visit this impressive country. Last Sunday they even became European champion in women’s handball.
