The shop is a project of George Williams Youth Association (YMCA in Kosovo) and it could be opened thanks to the Time of Fast grant of Y’s Men International. The supply of the goods was also possible through Y’s Men: a truck with 5 tons of clothes came from Y’s Men Denmark and it was organized by Holstebro Y’s Men’s Club .
This is not the first charitable initiative of the GWYA: around Christmas they provide food parcels to families in need and this was highly appreciated by the community. The YMCA leadership has made a very good start and definitely the association is ready for next steps. Together with all the enthusiasm, the team in Kosovo are ready to develop their marketing skills – training is a very important part of their plans. They can count on further assistance of their YMCA and Y’s Men partners.
The GWYA is growing both in programme and in structural terms. During the FG meeting the members of the Association presented impressive projects such as After School Activities for school children or Y-Women – women empowerment . The initiatives are run in premises given by the municipality of Gjakova, a great supporter of all the YMCA’s services for community.
To run all the activities and keep high quality it is necessary to work on efficient governance too. This area is not being neglected: one of the priorities for this year is the development of the Board, which consists of young and committed volunteers. They seem to be aware of their mission and are eager to gain new skills within their competences. The FG members are going to support them on this goal, YMCA Europe staff too!
