Delegates of over a 100 Youth Organisations in Europe came together to decide on the joint governance and advocacy developments of the forum.
This year's General Assembly was election time! The delegates voted for a new President, two Vice-presidents, the Board, the Financial Control Committee, and the Consultative Body on Membership Applications. Congratulations to María Rodríguez Alcázar for being the next president of the Youth Forum!
In the “Made in MOs” space YMCA took the lead together with the Finnish Youth Council and MIJARC Europe(International Movement of Catholic Agricultural and Rural Youth) to organize a session around Youth, Peace and Security to strengthen youth as proactive builders of peace.
The session was based on an initiative of the Youth, Peace, and Security Coordination Network of the Youth Forum in which YMCA is represented as well.
We discussed how youth organizations and the European Youth Forum can further support and promote peacebuilding in the youth-sector and in policy-making. YMCA shared the great work that is happening within our movement especially in the Roots for Peace Program, and YMCA Finland and Sweden. Thank you to our co-leads for facilitating this session!
During the conference, YMCA also took the opportunity to meet with their partner organizations YWCA, WOSM, and WAGS (Scouts and Girl Scouts) to strengthen the Big 6 ties on the European level and within the Youth Forum.
The time in Tirana was also a chance to meet Eglantina, the Secretary General of YMCA Albania! We shared our ongoing activities and how to further our joint work. Thank you so much for the lovely time!
The member organizations of the youth forum also voted on the membership of the National Youth Congress Albania and we are happy to see them and YMCA Albania as their member be represented in the European Youth Work sector and Advocacy!
