The support from Y´s Men Denmark and the guidance from YMCA Europe has been crucial for the development of YMCA Backy Petrovac over the past two years. Under Hana Majerova and Marijan Triaska´s leadership the local YMCA is deeply recognized by families and local institutions as a provider of opportunities for youth and children. On April 24-26 Juan Simoes Iglesias and Adam Rychlik, representing YMCA Europe and Kjeld Madsen on behalf of Y´s Men International Denmark Region, visited Backy Petrovac and met with the YMCA team evaluating the developments and identifying new goals for the future. They also met with Mr. Pavel Marcok, Mayor of the town and with Mr. Jan Brna, Director of the school that opens the door to the YMCA cooperating in different recreational and social programmes.
After Serbia, Juan and Adam travelled to Bosnia to meet with Azra Bogucanin and her team in Sarajevo. They visited the tennis accademy that operates daily in the frame of YMCA Bosnia and Herzegovina annual programme. Children from different ages and social-cultural backgrounds not only learn and practice tennis. YMCA values, team building and close contact with the families of the children are clearly visible within the programme. Azra together with Nina Mujezinovic, Lenka Velagic and the rest of the team are great ambassadors of her country and of YMCA Bosnia.
