Greenhill YMCA is an Outdoor Education and Residential Centre set on the beautiful slopes of Slieve Donard Mountain in Newcastle, Northern Ireland.
Each year we run a Summer Adventure Camp (SAC). SAC is made up of 3 camps which include:
- Junior Adventure Camp for Kids (JACK) for 6-11 years old.
- Senior Adventure Camp (SAC) for 12-14 year olds and
- Assistant Leader Camp (ALC) for 15-17 year olds
Some of our activities for summer camp include: Archery, canoeing, bouldering, climbing, abseiling, mountain walks, outdoor cooking, initiatives, zipline plus many more.
LENGTH OF PLACEMENT: 9 weeks (2 of which are training).
AGE: 18 +
HOURS OF WORK: Once training is completed, the camp will run for 7 weeks from Monday to Friday 0900 – 1630. You will get every weekend off from Friday at 1700 until Monday at 0815.
START & FINISH DATES: Arrival is required the weekend of the 19th June 2020. Training will start Monday the 22nd June 2020. Summer Camp will run from the 6th of July to the 21st of August. NB: Unfortunately, due to the intensive nature of Camp, it is not possible to arrive later than the 22nd of June or to depart earlier than the 21st of August.
WEEKLY ALLOWANCE: £55.00 (STERLING)
ACCOMMODATION: Self catering accommodation is provided free of charge at Greenhill.
TRAINING: Volunteers will undertake a 2 week training programme. The training programme will cover the main areas of work that volunteers will undertake throughout their time at Greenhill. Training is mandatory. No prospective Summer Camp Volunteer can be exempt from training.
