Dozens of members, volunteers, staff and stakeholders gathered at the premises of the YMCA in Helsinki during a gala dinner which included presentations about the history of the movement, music and recognitions to the persons that contributed to the development of the YMCA in the city and the whole country of Finland.
Juan Simoes Iglesias, represented YMCA Europe and his key note speech focused on the way the YMCA responds to today´s challenges in Europe. He highlighted the work of the YMCA in Helsinki and across Finland providing opportunities for youth through a variety of programmes and initiatives.
Hannu Niskanen, Chair of the Board of the Helsinki YMCA, Jaakko Koikkalainen, National Secretary General and Timo Laulaja, Secretary General of YMCA Helsinki shared inspiring inputs about the developments and reality of their vibrant movement.
Celebrations ended with an ecumenical service at Helsinki´s Cathedral on Sunday 16th.
