YMCA Europe`s statement on the crisis in Gaza | A call for ceasefire and the protection of human dignity.
The European Alliance of YMCAs (YMCA Europe), calls for an immediate ceasefire that will allow humanitarian aid to access, contributing to a framework that will ensure peace, dignity, equal human rights and security for all.
Ceasefire will increase humanitarian aid to children as the most vulnerable victims of this war facing death, malnutrition and disease.
We affirm that violence and destruction is not the solution for justice and freedom as we stand in solidarity with those in Palestine and Israel who are committed with Human Rights and peaceful coexistence.
We reaffirm World YMCA’s statement released in May, joining the call for:
- an immediate and sustained ceasefire
- the protection of all civilians, especially children and vulnerable populations
- the unconditional adherence to international humanitarian law
- unhindered access to humanitarian aid and essential services
We also call for the safe and humane release of all hostages and detainees, for the upholding of justice, compassion, and human dignity for all, and for the negotiation of a lasting peace with justice at its core.
