In a significant step forward for youth advocacy, YMCA Europe proudly participated in the prestigious Commissioner Policy Dialogues this past week.
Represented by our colleague Dragos Tarța (our advocacy lead participating in democratic processes through our dedicated platform, the European Youth Representative Network – EYRN), YMCA Europe engaged in high-level discussions with Hadja Lahbib, Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management.
This remarkable opportunity placed YMCA Europe at the forefront of critical conversations about building a more resilient and responsive Europe in the face of diverse crises.
The Commissioner Policy Dialogues serve as a unique platform for direct and impactful engagement with EU Commissioners across key policy areas.
YMCA Europe’s involvement is a powerful testament to our commitment to ensuring youth perspectives are integrated into the European policymaking process. It underscores our dedication to amplifying young people’s voices where it matters most—at the heart of European decision-making.
During the dialogue with Commissioner Hadja Lahbib, YMCA Europe contributed to thought-provoking discussions on:
- A Unified Response to Crises and Disasters: Solutions through which NGOs across Europe can enhance coordination during emergencies and support Civil Protection personnel effectively
- Youth Preparedness: How young people can better prepare themselves and their communities for emergencies.
- Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks in contemporary European societies.
- Inclusive Disaster Response: The importance of inclusion when participating in disaster relief efforts.
This exceptional opportunity not only enhanced YMCA Europe’s advocacy for strong, resilient communities but also reinforced our role as a leading voice for a more equitable Europe. By participating in such high-level policy dialogues, we continue to champion the integration of youth perspectives into strategies that address societal challenges and contribute to a safer, more inclusive future.
As YMCA Europe advances its mission, we remain steadfast in promoting youth participation and collaboration across all sectors of society. Our engagement in the Commissioner Policy Dialogues is just one example of how we are working to create lasting, positive change for all.
We are deeply grateful to the European Commission for the trust invested in YMCA Europe and for recognizing the crucial role of youth in crisis management and preparedness.
This endorsement not only validates our ongoing efforts but also empowers us to continue advocating for meaningful youth participation in shaping resilient and inclusive policies across Europe.
