As we bid farewell to 2023 and say hello to 2024, YMCA Europe is excited to share with you a wrap-up on our online presence and communications statistics!
On Facebook, a primary pillar of our online presence, we’ve observed a remarkable increase in outreach. Despite posting less than in 2022 as we decide to pursue a more organic growth through active engagement, we reached 679,694 people this year—double the 2021 amount and significantly more than our 2022 numbers!
Within our audience, 58,5% are female, 41,5% male, and we are happy to say that 60% of them are young people below the age of 34.
Our commitment to sustained engagement shows in our retention of 153,080 engaged individuals and 112,800 followers. Notably, video views surged from 47,917 in 2022 to an impressive 61,113 this year!
Turning our attention to our flagship project, YMCA Roots for Peace experienced a steady growth of followers on Facebook, from 3,121 to 3,432 followers, reaching 105,748 people, and engaging 7,362. Roots for Peace’s videos were viewed 10,712 times in 2023. 61,4% of Roots for Peace’s audience is female and 38,6% male, 53,6% under 34 years old and 25,6% between the age of 35 and 44.
We posted 158 times on our Facebook community page, YMCA Connects, this year. We are happy to receive a total of 182 comments and 2,733 reactions from our 797 active members. In total, YMCA Connects has 1,626 members.
On our web page, we posted 162 times (news, events, resources), attracting 52,774 sessions and 85,858 page views by 32,000 users. Remarkably, 70% of this reach was organic, a significant rise from last year’s 49.5%.
YMCA Europe’s Instagram continues to see a positive growth! This year, we reached 3,371 followers and reached 74,160 people. We also have a staggering number of 853,073 impressions! On Instagram, 55,1% of our audience are female and 44,9% male, 60,5% under 34.
Our newsletter has 5,258 subscribers this year, and our open rate of 33,9% surpassing the industry rate of 20%.
Our other social media also grew this year. We now have a total of 31,170 views on our Flickr and our LinkedIn has experienced an increase in impressions, amounting to 180,521 impressions with 2,992 page views and 1,992 followers.
Our YouTube channel was viewed 7,400 times and watched for 11,100 hours. Last, but not least, YMCA Europe’s Twitter—now called X—has accumulated 3,013 followers, the highest we have ever been.
In a remarkable achievement for our digital outreach efforts, our Giphy GIFs garnered over 3 million views in 2023. This milestone underscores the growing engagement and impact of our visual content in reaching diverse audiences across digital platforms.
