Our joint mission with HP Inc. in the Republic of Moldova is focused not only on developing the infrastructure, and framework to ease access the information and education but also to build strong communities, especially the most vulnerable ones including those coming from the Ukraine.
The Refugee & Seniors Centre from Budesti Commune, in Moldova, became a hotspot, not only for the active community, and integration work organised by the team at YMCA Moldova but also a site where the eldest beneficiaries can feel at home, welcomed to discover the marvels of the internet, basic IT skills, access to information and… inspiration they can use on a daily basis.
Although the primary focus of our work revolves around young people, supporting the seniors, and creating communities where every beneficiary can access counsel, support and access to upskilling sessions is part of our joint mission of enabling digital equity.
At the Budesti Centre, the team is teaching language classes, and basic Internet search engine knowledge as tools to facilitate wellbeing and community activities, especially in the field of creativity, hand crafting and self-expression.

Thanks to young leaders like Dumitru, the implementation team of YMCA Moldova, and the generous donation of laptops from HP, we are making a difference to the most lonely and elderly beneficiaries, who are joining every session at the centre with great joy and enthusiasm, cheerfully focusing on their learning journey, away from the stress and strain of their daily struggles in a foreign country, during very uncertain times.
