To support its impactful camping initiatives, the YMCA of Hong Kong is offering placement opportunities for individuals to serve as International Camp Counsellors. This rewarding programme is ideal for those who are passionate about working with children and contributing to their development.
Placement Details
- Position: International Camp Counsellor
- Placement Period: June 23 – August 29, 2025 (pre-camp training from June 17-20, 2025)
- Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm (with flexibility for briefings and debriefings)
Key Requirements
The role is suited for individuals who can act as positive role models for children and align with the YMCA of Hong Kong’s mission and values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Successful applicants should demonstrate:
- A child-centred approach, providing age-appropriate and developmentally sound programming.
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills, with a high level of self-motivation.
- Effective communication and a commitment to delivering excellent service.
- A focus on health and safety, with a preference for candidates holding a first aid certificate.
- Availability for pre-camp training and active participation throughout the camp period.
What Is Provided
The YMCA of Hong Kong supports its camp counsellors with the following provisions:
- Accommodation: Dormitory housing at YMCA The Salisbury Hotel.
- Meals: Staff canteen meals during workdays and lunch provided at camps.
- Visa Sponsorship: Assistance with the Hong Kong visa application process.
- Training: Comprehensive camp counsellor and all-staff training.
Allowance:
- Basic training allowance of HK$8,500 per month (pro-rata for incomplete months).
- Transportation allowance of HK$300 per month (pro-rata for incomplete months).
Additional Notes
- Applicants are responsible for their airfare, insurance, and any personal expenses incurred during their stay.
- Placement assignments are based on skills and programme needs. Flexibility and a collaborative attitude are encouraged.
