On the 9th October 2016, YMCA Valletta hosted Mr. Ghassan Sayah, the Chairman of the Board of YMCA Beirut, Lebanon to discuss further collaboration in the social work practices at YMCA Beirut and YMCA Valletta.
YMCA Valletta Youth Empowerment Education Program
YMCA Valletta has increased the number of volunteers in the Youth Empowerment Education Program giving young people the opportunity to assist in our social work practices at our residential shelter ‘Dar Niki Cassar’ for homeless people. The number of active volunteers has increased to 170.
The YMCA Founding Statement and it’s Relevance Today Public Workshop
25 participants mostly young people benefited from a public workshop treating the YMCA Paris Basis. This talk was delivered by Mr. Martti Muukkonen from the Finnish YMCA.
YMCA Valletta and it’s Christianity Aspect
YMCA Valletta gave workshops to religious communities in Malta on the importance of psychological well being together with spirituality.
Other recent activities
YMCA Malta is in the process of giving to their volunteers a recognition for the non-formal learning that takes place whilst they are volunteering with the YMCA. In this regard, a specific workshop took place after YMCA Malta hosted Agne Rapalaite – youth worker from Lithuania -on the Open badges recognition system.
Recently, another meeting took place, this time between the young people and Y’Friends in order to discuss way forward of the Youth Empowerment Programme within YMCA Malta.
