From the 22nd to the 25th of February, YMCA Unify Conference took place in Prague, hosted by the Czech YMCA.
The conference brought together 145 participants from 21 countries. It has been a fantastic opportunity for the YMCA movement worldwide to reconnect, and share about the spiritual dimension of their organization, over 3 days of reflection on connecting the body-mind-spirit.
The conference was themed “Cultivated – Called – Commissioned”, every day being an opportunity to discuss peace-building within the movement, attend live music sessions, seminars, and group work, as well as guided tours around picturesque Prague.
A momentous event has been the “Pray for Ukraine” Live Broadcast of a session filled with connection, humanity, prayers, and solidarity for the Ukrainians affected by an ongoing war, organized on the 24th of February.
The event has been concluded with messages for peace and plans to continue creating safe spaces within the YMCA for all the communities to connect and support the most vulnerable ones.
Aligned with the idea of cultivating a strong community feeling within the movement, being called for unity and celebration for the spiritual dimension of the YMCA, and commissioned to be agents of change in the YMCA family, outside the community, and the world, participants had a holistic understanding, and an experiential learning opportunity, streamlined with our mission and vision, as YMCA.
UNIFY is a platform for YMCAs to share and reflect on the Christian Mission of the YMCA, as stated in the Paris Basis (1855), the founding document of the YMCA. The next event to be organised is Youth Unify Camp, Slovakia, 11-17 August 2024.
