Webinar on local integration with refugees and migrants. YMCA practitioners from across Europe share what works, what fails, and what still needs to change.
On 30th June at 15:30 CET, YMCA Europe’s Working Group on Refugees and Migrants is launching a new free webinar series with an honest starting point: local integration is hard, and not everything we try works. “What Works (and What Doesn’t) in Local Integration: Lessons from YMCA Programs Across Europe” brings together practitioners and refugees to unpack real experiences from the field, not just showcase success stories.
This first 60‑minute webinar is open to a broad audience: YMCA staff and volunteers, local partners, community workers, students, and anyone interested in inclusion, migration, and social change – no prior expertise required.
Instead of slides full of theory, participants will hear concrete case studies from different European countries, personal stories, and very practical insights about what has helped refugees settle and belong in their new communities – and where initiatives have failed, stalled, or had unintended consequences.
The session will be interactive from the start: short inputs from speakers, space for questions, live chat, and small‑group discussions in breakout rooms. Together, we will look at what actually works on the ground in local integration, what clearly does not, and what we still need to rethink in how YMCAs and partners support refugees and migrants across Europe.
