YMCA Community Digital Hubs and HP Partnership: A Month of Impact and Engagement in Kosovo.
The past month has been a vibrant and productive period for YMCA Kosovo, with young people actively participating in their three digital hubs located in Prishtina, Peja, and Gjakova. Alongside their engagement, YMCA Kosovo has conducted numerous awareness and community engagement activities to further their mission.
Key Highlights from the YMCA Digital Community Hubs
STEAM Coordinator Meets Prime Minister: The STEAM coordinator, Adrian Davies, had the honor of meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti to discuss the critical importance of skilling, upskilling, and reskilling the communities. Adrian highlighted how the partnership with HP is making these opportunities possible, fostering a future-ready workforce.
Career Fair in Peja: Anita from Peja YMCA attended a local ‘Career Fair,’ where she promoted YMCA’s initiatives and emphasized their digital programs and courses. This event was an excellent platform to showcase the opportunities available through the digital hubs.
Freedom Parade in Gjakova: Orhidea and Ylli from Gjakova led 40 young people in the city’s ‘Freedom Parade,’ providing a fantastic opportunity to promote the activities at the local HUB/YMCA and highlight the support from HP. This event celebrated community spirit and digital literacy.
Digital Courses in Rahovec: Young people in Rahovec learned about the various digital courses available and how to enroll. The sessions were designed to ensure that these courses can be accessed both at school and at home, making digital education more accessible.
A Busy Time with More to Come:
The future is digital, and YMCA Kosovo is committed to ensuring their communities are ready. The Digital Community Hubs project, supported by HP, focuses on accelerating digital equity in the Western Balkans. This initiative helps YMCAs expand existing or create new digital community hubs, aiming to reach thousands of people annually. The focus is on young people, including those from marginalized communities, teachers, and youth workers.
