On 14 June, the YMCA Gjakova team proudly joined the city’s Freedom Parade, walking alongside local organisations, sports clubs, and first responders.
With around 30 members, staff, and volunteers wearing Powered by HP shirts, the YMCA presence not only celebrated the spirit of unity but also highlighted a shared commitment to digital upskilling and future-ready communities.
Unlike the previous year, this year’s parade was held on a Saturday, attracting larger crowds and creating an even more vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.
“It made me feel part of a community, a community where I belong,” shared Era Hoxha, one of the participants.
The Gjakova Digital Hub, temporarily relocated during the renovation of the YMCA building, remains active and visible in the community. Thanks to funding from the Municipality, the new building will soon house both the city’s youth centre and an expanded YMCA space across three floors — including a brand-new digital community hub.
This evolving collaboration between YMCA and local authorities is a powerful example of what’s possible when civic commitment and community vision come together.
From joining public celebrations to building spaces for learning and inclusion, YMCA Gjakova continues to grow as a beacon for youth empowerment and digital access.
