From Participant to Changemaker: Anna’s Journey with YMCA and HP Ignites Community Transformation
A year ago, Anna, as a young journalist discovered the opportunity to join HP digital courses at the YMCA Digital Community Hub focusing on social media marketing and engaging target audience. Even though Anna already knew quite a bit about these topics, she found herself deeply inspired by the YMCA’s work and vision, which went beyond just the program.
Fueled by this, Anna, along with the local media company where she worked in, formed a strong partnership with YMCA Serbia. Together, they launched MOJO (Mobile Journalism) courses for young people. These courses were a big success throughout 2023, with Anna’s creative input leaving a lasting impact on YMCA Serbia.
Now, looking ahead to 2024, Anna, as a new member of YMCA Serbia team, is preparing for an even bigger project. They plan to create a mobile digital community hub that will cover northern Serbia with a goal to promote digital equity and empowerment through various creative methods tailored to areas that are often overlooked in formal education.
“Cultivating change isn’t just about seizing opportunities; it’s about creating them. Through our collaboration with YMCA and HP, we’re not just telling stories; we’re empowering communities to script their own narratives of success”, shared Anna.
Overall, Anna’s journey from being a participant in YMCA programs, to becoming an essential volunteer and staff member, demonstrates how collaboration between YMCA, HP, and passionate individuals like herself can bring about real change in communities.
