Empowering Digital Learning in Moldova: YMCA is at the forefront of advancing digital literacy and fostering the significance of digital competences among the youth in Moldova.
In collaboration with YMCA Europe and supported by HP Inc., over 5,300 new computers and laptops have been distributed to various institutions, including schools, high schools, colleges, universities, youth centers, refugee centers, cultural centers, and NGOs across Moldova. Learn more about the “Digital Education Centres in the Republic of Moldova” project, here.
The project’s primary goal is to elevate digitalization levels among youth in rural and disadvantaged communities, with YMCA Moldova actively collaborating with fellow civil society entities to concentrate efforts on providing quality opportunities and services for youth, including Ukrainian refugees.
One notable initiative involves the joint contribution of YMCA, Junior Achievement Moldova, and “Future Class Project” to renovate and equip a model classroom, known as the “class of the future,” featuring new computers, a digital board, VR Glasses, robotics, and educational software.
In 2023, the project consortium successfully equipped such classrooms in various high schools, including Alexei Mateevici High School in Causeni, Mihai Eminescu High School in Anenii Noi, and Alexandr Puskin High School in Anenii Noi, the latter catering to Ukrainian refugee students.
YMCA Moldova remains committed to forging new partnerships and cooperation relations to amplify the impact of ongoing projects. This collaboration with Junior Achievement marks the beginning of an exceptional partnership, highlighting the critical role of such alliances in promoting digital literacy and youth empowerment.
The event was graced by the presence of officials from diverse institutions and the private sector, showcasing the broad support for this impactful initiative.
