Each year YMCA Bavaria offers 12 one-week Language Camps to give young people the opportunity to strengthen their English skills and to become more confident in speaking and engaging in an international environment.
The goal is to empower and train young people to take part in experiences abroad and further expand their horizon abroad after finishing the camp.
The camp relies on practical and true-to-life learning using leisure-time pedagogic methods implemented by mostly young native-speaking staff from English-speaking countries.
Through speaking the target language during the whole program and engaging with the staff team participants learn to express themselves in everyday life and to strengthen their intercultural understanding.
The camp and positions are offered by the CVJM Bayern which is the regional association of the 105 YMCAs in Bavaria.
You have the opportunity to work as a volunteer in the CVJM-castle “Wernfels” in the village Wernfels together with a team of five other volunteers. During this time you will share a flat and live in community with the other volunteers. The Internship takes place from the 01.09.2022 until the 31.08.2023.
Your work will include participating in 12 one-week language camps as well as preparing, developing and inviting people to the project together with the team. You will furthermore have 25 obligatory seminary days and vacation days during your year in Germany to be able to take some rest and get to know the country.
The CVJM Bayern will cover the flight costs as well as accommodation and food. For your personal use you will receive a “pocket money” of 150€ monthly.
You can apply for 2 to 12 consecutive one-week camps to support the staff team of the Language Camps. In your application, please let us know, for which weeks you want to apply. Please see the Schedule for the 2023 camps in the application form for reference.
You will be living and working on our YMCA-castle “Wernfels” together with around 15-20 other workcampers and volunteers. The CVJM Bayern will cover your accommodation and food. The payment follows the german financial laws and amounts to 12 euros/hour.
The organisers are looking for an English native speaker or someone with a very safe handling of the language, older than 18 and with a heart for serving young people with a Jesus-centered motivation.
