The event took place in Zakopane, Poland from 1st to 7th July. It was carried out by YMCA Europe Mission in Poland, in partnership with the "Monsters" – a sports club for children.
This club also runs other activities for Polish and Ukrainian children during the school year and the camp was a part of a bigger integration programme where the focus is on after school sport activities.
Besides regular sport training, the participants were also offered educational sessions: presentations on the culture and history of the mountain region, famous sportsmen's stories, visits to the local ethnic museum and other local places of interest.
Training in the aquapark and mountain hikes were attractive additions to the training in the gym. A special meaning had multimedial presentations on Ukraine ("Country of Cossacks'') and YMCA as an organisation with long traditions and good place to stay for the youth.
Among 19 participants there were 8 children of immigrants. Their participation was covered by YMCA Europe in a greater part.
Some of the camperes have declared their participation in the follow-up activities. The next one will be a day-camp in Warszawa in August.
