YMCA Europe recently had the privilege of meeting with the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.
Led by Emma Osmundsen and Juan Simoes Iglesias, President and Secretary General of YMCA Europe, the delegation engaged in discussions concerning the challenges faced by young people, the ongoing work of YMCA across Europe, and potential collaborations with the Parliament to address issues crucial to youth empowerment.
The meeting covered a range of topics, from mental health support to employment opportunities and social inclusion. During the meeting, YMCA Europe proudly presented the European Parliament with the YMCA Europe Roots for Peace Award. This accolade recognizes the Parliament’s steadfast commitment to promoting peace and justice across Europe. President Metsola accepted the award on behalf of the Parliament, highlighting the significance of partnerships in achieving common goals.

On January 29th, our Secretary General, Juan Simoes Iglesias, had a constructive meeting at the European Commission with Mr. Margaritis Schinas, Vice-President of the European Commission and acting European Commissioner for International Partnerships, responsible for promoting the European Way of Life.
