From the 16-19th of March, our Partnerships and Communications department had the chance to pay a visit to the national office of YMCA Sweden‘s National office in Stockholm, as well as connect and explore the ongoing initiatives the team at KFUM Central is developing, as well as the activities designed to support youth, innovations, and community support.
During the first day, we had the chance to connect with the YMCA Sweden team at the national office, learning about their ongoing projects, challenges and opportunities, as well as exploring what we can develop together within our joint strategy.
We had a great tour of the office, as well as meeting and re-connecting with the team. It has been a fantastic time drawing the main priorities of our prospective initiatives.
We also had the chance to connect with the team at KFUM Central, in the capital city of Stockholm. Our team had a guided tour of the hotel and sporting facilities the YMCA is managing.
We’ve been impressed by the gym, sports, performance and basketball facilities – designed to support young athletes and sports enthusiasts and build a strong community.
The team at KFUM Central introduced their plans to bring innovations and ongoing developments in their outreach work. They presented their signature programs, an incredibly important one being Må Bäst – on Mental Health. We were awed by their innovative ideas to bridge mental health and meaningful discussions on the topic with their card game.
During our visit, we also explored the potential collaboration opportunities on various projects such as the upcoming PulseZ, as well as worked on discussing developing the YMCA-HP Digital Hubs.
And also connected with the team managing and running the Basketball Department – KFUM Central Basketball. We learnt about their programs and strengthening their connection with ESY – European Sport YMCA.
We also had a few sessions on communications and programs, seeing the youth choir program, as well as meeting the leads of the UCare program for Ukrainian refugees in Sweden – a program designed to empower upskilling, integration and adaptation for the Ukrainian refugee families in Stockholm.
We learned about KFUM Central’s upcoming plans to level up its outreach, connect with the private sector, and develop novel initiatives for working with youth and communities. We will follow up with more updates on their incredible journey.
We would like to express our gratitude to the team at KFUM Central for having us and hosting our visit and to KFUM Sweden for connecting and discussing the upcoming joint initiatives.
