As part of our efforts to enhance digital access in Romania, YMCA is distributing headphones donated by HP to schools, particularly in rural and disadvantaged areas, and youth centers to ensure access to educational resources. This initiative, supported by dedicated personnel and expertise, aims to create a positive multiplier effect within communities.
Cavnic, located in Maramureș County, Romania, is a city that faces significant socio-economic challenges. The city is considered disadvantaged, with limited access to modern infrastructure and economic opportunities. The decline of the mining industry has led to high unemployment rates and outmigration, particularly among the youth. YMCA is actively working to improve education, digital access, and local development, striving to create a brighter future for Cavnic’s residents through various community-focused initiatives.
“The generously provided headphones have profoundly impacted our activities. They have transformed our computer lab into a vibrant center for education and innovation. Through various extracurricular programs, we nurture skill development and encourage innovative expression among our students.
Thanks to this support, students improving their language skills now have the necessary resources for success. Additionally, they can access audiobooks and enhance their digital training skills. Your generosity has not only transformed our school but also touched countless lives, fostering growth and optimism. Knowing that we are working together toward a brighter future fills me with gratitude, and I eagerly anticipate continuing our journey together.” – Beatrix Petric, Director of Pintea Viteazu High School
This project is part of YMCA Europe’s broader digital equity initiatives, supported by HP. These initiatives include creating digital community hubs in the West Balkans and educational digital centers in Moldova, all aimed at bridging the digital divide and empowering disadvantaged communities with essential digital skills and resources
