At one of the Forum Europa Events, we had the privilege to meet with a young Member of the European Parliament from Germany, and this led to a great conversation and steps towards connecting with a representative who truly values a progressive approach to leadership and youth voices.
Lukas Sieper is a German politician and the leader of the Party of Progress. In the 2024 European Parliament election, he was elected as a Member of the European Parliament. However, his connection with our movement began since his childhood participating in all the programs and sessions organised in CVJM – YMCA Germany.
On the 26th of September, we had the privilege to follow up on our previous conversation at one of the Forum Europa events, and connect, and discuss the YMCA, its vision and mission, and how the European Parliament can make a difference during such a complicated time for civic society organisations standing for youth and communities across Europe.
During our visit to the office of Lukas, at the European Parliament, we had the chance to discuss the mission of the YMCA, the initiatives towards empowering youth voices, and communities across the continent and beyond, and our strides to accelerate digital equity.
We had the chance to present our works and initiatives, and discussed the importance of empowering young leaders through advocacy, by building platforms where their actions can be implemented and their voices be heard at a decision-making level.
Paving the way to a great cooperation discussing the challenges and opportunities of our movement, and how civic society organisations can best benefit from the cooperation with Members of the European Parliament, we concluded our meeting with great excitement for the works to come, and the opportunity to continue our close cooperation.
