Istanbul situated both in Europe and Asia, is a city where one can witness the heritage of 8 thousand years of human civilisation, where the Oriental and European cultures infiltrate each other and major religions meet. Istanbul is also a place where the YMCA started to work back in 1914.

YMCA Scotland took top prize in the Children and youth category at The Charity Awards 2012. Writer and comedian Steve Punt and artist Stik presented the winner’s trophy to Mike Will MBE and Peter Crory, at a glittering ceremony on Thursday 14 June at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.
The YMCA in Czech Republic organized a 6-days partnership-building activity with more than 35 young people from 20 different countries. Countries taking place in the activity were from the EU as well as its partner countries, Southeastern Europe and Eastern Europe. The activity took place in May 2012 in Prague, Czech Republic.
More than 130 participants representing 29 National Movements gathered at Hotel Globus in Prague as delegates at YMCA Europe´s 2012 General Assembly. Under the title “Roots and Leaves” the programme included a mix of key note speeches, discussion groups, devotions, presentations and elections for every place on the Executive Committee.
A new Executive Committee was elected at our General Assembly held in Prague (May 16th – 20th)
Less than one week was enough to see the reality and impact of several YMCAs in Russia. Juan Simoes, YE Secretary General and Michal Szymanczak, Senior Executive Secretary visited Ivanovo and Yaroslavl from April 27th to May 3rd following an intense and diverse agenda of meetings prepared by our friends at YMCA Russia with a special contribution from Misha Guskov, Development Secretary at that National Movement.
Over 30 YMCA leaders involved in YMCA Movement Development and Programme Groups work in Europe met in Berlin from the 9th to the 10th of March, just in the heart of the town which was a symbol of divided world and now is the best example of united Europe.
